Born and raised in El Paso, TX, Ara Celi always knew she wanted to act since she was a little girl. As a diverse actress, she has worked in the Latin and U.S. market, speaking fluent English and Spanish. Now, after more than sixteen years of acting, Ara Celi continues to push the elements in her craft working in films, on-stage, television and voice-overs.
Ara Celi started her acting career at the age of eighteen. She moved to Mexico to premiere in a role on a Spanish language soap opera, Valentina. After three months, she decided to move to Los Angeles where she landed a guest appearance on “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” (1993), “Silk Stalkings” (1994), and “Renegade” (1995). In 1997, Ara Celi had a starring role in the dance movie Looking for Lola and a role as Ampata Gutierrez “Inca Mummy Girl” from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. As her acting grew, so did her roles. In 1999, she landed a contract role on the famous soap opera “All My Children” playing as Raquel Dion Santos. Ara Celi made several appearances in films in 1999 such as American Beauty and From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman’s Daughter, playing as Esmeralda.
Ara Celi gained a film role as Karman in an independent feature, Go Fish (2000). By 2003, she took on the character Celia, wife of a drug lord, on the pilot which became a television series, “Nip/Tuck”. She also starred as Clara in the Spanish soap opera “Te Amaré En Silencio” (2003). Ara Celi began using her voice talents in commercials and video games, such as, Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat (2002) as Katarina DeLeon and continued in Forgotten Realms: Baldur’s Gate- Dark Alliance II (2004) and Law & Order: Justice is Served (2004). Recently, she filmed in a role as Esmeralda Celi in the feature Machete, directed by Robert Rodriguez, which debut in 2010.
Currently, Ara Celi is a senior partner and lead media personality for AraCeliLive. With her energetic personality, Ara Celi has done countless professional interviews and continues to bring local stories to the community. When she is not hosting for AraCeliLive, you can see her on local television commercials for auto dealerships as she twirls her finger. In addition, Ara Celi is involved with local charities and events.
